Costco Expands International Beauty & Wellness

The retailer is now carrying Japanese haircare and Mexican beauty both in-store and online.

Success is sweet for Japanese hair care brand Honeyque and modern Mexican beauty brand Nopalera.

Costco is now carrying both brands, specifically, Honeyque’s Honey Protein Series, available nationwide in stores and online.

Formulated for all hair types, Honeyque’s sulfate-free formulas are beneficial for those with color-treated hair, bleach damage or frequent heat-styling habits. In addition, the line combines the benefits of manuka honey with protein-rich ingredients to repair visible damage while restoring softness, strength and shine.

Nopalera is available at 150 Costco stores and across 17 states.

In March, Nopalera closed a $4 million funding round led by Morgan Stanley’s Next Level Fund, co-led by San Diego-based L’Attitude Ventures, one of the largest Latino-focused early-stage venture capital funds. The funding aimed to position the growing company to expand its retail presence and product offerings, officials said.

“Building an exclusive club-store format from scratch was a serious operational lift,” said Nopalera founder Sandra Velasquez in a LinkedIn post. “New sizing/packaging, new supply chain requirements — all while keeping the brand feel intact.”
